Good News: Steve Sarkisian Confirm Major Boost As Another Highly Rated Star Commits To Texas Longhorns

**Four-Star Dekaney Tight End Nick Townsend Commits to Texas Football**

The University of Texas secured a top pass-catching tight end for its 2025 recruiting class on Monday. Nick Townsend, a four-star tight end from Dekaney High School in Houston, committed to the Longhorns, marking their 15th commit for the class. This decision followed his official visit to the Austin campus from June 21-23.

“When I stepped on campus for the official visit, I felt the energy immediately,” Townsend told Horns247. “It was an incredible vibe that I didn’t get from other schools. The head coach greeted me personally, and I felt a unique connection. I believe Texas can help me become bigger, faster, and stronger, taking me to the next level. Plus, the fanbase is amazing and made me feel welcomed in a way no other school did.”

247Sports ranks Townsend as the No. 114 prospect and No. 3 athlete in the 2025 class, though he is expected to start his career at tight end. Both Rivals and On3 also have him ranked highly, placing him at No. 6 nationally and within the top 175 of their respective rankings.

“Since Dekaney High School opened in 2007, we’ve had great athletes, but Nick Townsend is probably the best I’ve coached here,” said Dekaney head coach Anthony Williams. “We’ve had state championships and standout players like Trey Williams, but Nick stands out as an exceptional athlete.”

Townsend is the second tight end commit for Texas in this class, joining three-star Emaree Winston, who committed in December.
