T.J. Hockenson, a tight end for the Minnesota Vikings and Pro Bowler, is clearly tough, even though his availability for this season is uncertain as he heals from a knee injury that ended his season in December.
Hockenson discussed the circumstances of a rib injury he had with during the 2023 season during an appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast on July 15. He broke two ribs in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite this, he managed to record 135 receiving yards in the first half of the game against the New Orleans Saints, where Josh Dobbs was the quarterback.
“During the Atlanta game, I broke my rib.” I broke two ribs on my right side. The Saints are next week. With Dobbs in the game, I had 135 [yards] in the first half, according to Hockenson.
In addition to running routes, tight ends must also block and make a lot of contact at the line of scrimmage to meet the demands of the position.
Any doubts about Hockenson’s tenacity and willingness to play should be dispelled by his performance against the Saints, but given the possibility that he may begin the season on the injured reserve list, there may be calls for him to play more.
