Sad News: Tennessee Volunteers Confirm The Departure Of Another Top Experienced Star

**Texas Rangers Draft Tennessee Outfielder Dylan Dreiling in 2024 MLB Draft**

Tennessee outfielder Dylan Dreiling was selected by the Texas Rangers in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Dreiling, recently named MVP of the 2024 Men’s College World Series after leading the Vols to their first national title, excelled at the plate this season.

In 2024, Dreiling led Tennessee with 75 RBIs and 53 walks, maintaining a .341 batting average in 71 games. The sophomore also scored 72 runs and collected 84 hits in 246 plate appearances.

Dreiling’s performance was crucial during the Men’s College World Series. He recorded 13 hits, 11 RBIs, and three home runs. In Game 3 against Texas A&M, he had a game-high 3 RBIs, including a two-run homer in the seventh inning that gave Tennessee a 6-1 lead. In Game 2, he hit a decisive two-run home run in the seventh inning to defeat the Aggies and logged a walk-off base hit against Florida State in Tennessee’s opener, where he also achieved a career-high four hits.

Dreiling’s postseason success began early, with seven hits and three RBIs, including four extra-base hits, during the Knoxville Regional.

Before his college career, Dreiling was a standout high school player, ranked as the No. 293 overall prospect in the 2022 class by Perfect Game and the No. 2 player in Kansas. He earned All-American honors as a senior.

MLB’s scouting report projects Dreiling as a reliable, hard-hitting batter in the pros. The left-hander demonstrates good strike zone management, reflected in his high walk numbers. The report also notes his solid to plus speed but mentions he is still learning to utilize it effectively. Defensively, Dreiling showed improvement in left field but is expected to be no more than an average defender with a subpar arm and limited instincts for center field.

Having completed his true sophomore season, Dreiling now faces a decision: turn professional or return to Tennessee to defend their national championship.
