**LSU Football Recruiting: Five-Star WR Derek Meadows Pledges to Tigers Over Notre Dame**
LSU made a significant impact in recruiting by securing the commitment of five-star wide receiver Derek Meadows. Meadows, ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 32 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports, is a standout from Bishop Gorman in Nevada. He had visits with top programs like Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Notre Dame, and LSU in recent months, but Brian Kelly and the Tigers won him over.
Meadows stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 200 pounds, bringing a combination of size, speed, and agility, thanks to his track and field background. This makes him a formidable matchup for defenses, with the ability to out-jump defensive backs and outrun linebackers.
His commitment is a major boost for LSU, who are already in the top 10 of the 247Sports recruiting rankings for 2025. Meadows will join forces with five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the top-ranked prospect in the class.
247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins praised Meadows, noting his unique blend of size, athleticism, and body control. Biggins highlighted Meadows’ potential to grow into a pass-catching tight end while maintaining his wide receiver skill set, making him a versatile and dangerous offensive weapon.
Meadows’ commitment caps a strong week for LSU and Brian Kelly. The Tigers also landed five-star safety DJ Pickett and four-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin recently, closing the gap between their No. 4 spot and the top three recruiting classes of Ohio State, Alabama, and Georgia for 2025.
