**Jerry Hughes Returns to Texans for 15th NFL Season**
Defensive end Jerry Hughes has re-signed with the Houston Texans for his 15th NFL season, as reported by the league’s transactions wire.
This marks Hughes’ third season with the Texans. Over the past two seasons, he appeared in all 17 games, starting 18 times (16 in 2022). He recorded three sacks last season, following a nine-sack performance in 2022.
Hughes, who turns 36 next month, has amassed 70 career sacks, having spent nine seasons with the Buffalo Bills and two with the Indianapolis Colts.
He re-joins a strong Texans defensive end group that includes 2023 first-round pick Will Anderson Jr. and four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter, who signed a two-year, $49 million free agent deal with Houston. Anderson recorded seven sacks in his rookie season, while Hunter had 16.5 sacks for the Minnesota Vikings last season, bringing his career total to 87.5.
Drafted 31st overall by the Colts in 2010, Hughes has accumulated 479 tackles (96 for loss), 19 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions in 218 games.
