Good News: Five-Star SEC Highly Rated Football Player Commits To LSU Over Alabama And Georgia

**LSU Football Recruiting: Five-Star WR Derek Meadows Commits to Tigers Over Notre Dame**

LSU made a significant impact in recruiting by securing a commitment from five-star wide receiver Derek Meadows, ranked as the No. 6 wide receiver and No. 32 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports.

Meadows, hailing from Bishop Gorman in Nevada, had interest from major programs like Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Notre Dame, and LSU. Ultimately, LSU’s pitch from head coach Brian Kelly sealed the deal. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 200 pounds, Meadows possesses a combination of size and athleticism, including a background in track and field, making him a formidable threat for defenses with his ability to outmaneuver defensive backs and linebackers.

This commitment is a significant boost for LSU, which was already in the top 10 of the 247Sports recruiting rankings for the 2025 cycle. Meadows joins forces with five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall prospect in the class.

“Meadows is a jumbo receiver and one of the more intriguing players in the 2025 class,” noted 247Sports recruiting analyst Greg Biggins. “With his rare combination of size, athleticism, and body control, he’s only beginning to tap into his potential. He might even develop into a pass-catching tight end, posing a significant threat against linebackers and safeties. However, his receiver skills, length, jump ball abilities, and knack for catching through contact make him a dominant player. His upside is incredibly high, and with continued development, he has the potential for a long professional career.”

Meadows’ commitment caps a successful week for Brian Kelly and the LSU staff, who also secured five-star safety DJ Pickett earlier in the week and four-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin earlier in the month. These additions have closed the gap between LSU’s No. 4 spot and the top three teams in the national rankings for the 2025 cycle: Ohio State (No. 1), Alabama (No. 2), and Georgia (No. 3).
