Good News: Just In Green Bay Packers Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Experienced QB

**Packers Sign QB Amid Jordan Love Contract Talks**

With Jordan Love in contract negotiations, the Green Bay Packers signed veteran quarterback Jacob Eason to compete with their backups at training camp, according to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. This move coincided with the release of rookie long snapper and former Wisconsin Badger Peter Bowden.

Eason, 26, had previously worked out for the Packers last summer and participated in their rookie minicamp in May. Now, he joins the team as the No. 3 quarterback behind Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt. Eason’s status may change once Love finalizes his contract extension, but for now, he has an opportunity to impress the Packers or other NFL teams during the preseason.

**Jacob Eason’s NFL Journey**

Eason was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 122nd overall. He has since played for five NFL teams, most recently the New York Giants at the end of the 2023 season. Eason has appeared in two NFL games, one with the Colts in 2021 and one with the Giants in 2023, completing five of ten passes for 84 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Coming out of Washington, Eason was compared to Carson Palmer and Brock Osweiler and was considered a second-round talent. However, his struggles with pocket poise and progressions caused him to fall to the fourth round. Despite his challenges, Eason now has the chance to prove himself at Packers training camp.

Green Bay currently has 12 receivers on their 91-man roster, making it difficult to split reps between quarterbacks. Still, Eason, a former five-star recruit with a strong arm, could showcase his abilities in the preseason. The Packers open their preseason on the road against the Cleveland Browns, giving Eason an opportunity to audition for NFL teams. He will also have chances against the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens, depending on how much the Packers want to protect Love before the regular season begins against the Philadelphia Eagles.
