Good News: Mets Sign Former World Series Champion To A Minor League Deal

The Boston Red Sox 2018 World Series club is getting another player, and the New York Mets already acquired JD Martinez during the offseason.

The Mets are reportedly signing veteran outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., according to a FanSided story on Tuesday by Sean W. Alcide. Bradley’s deal is minor league, and he’ll start at Triple-A Syracuse.

Bradley, 34, is a former All-Star who also won the ALCS MVP award in 2018 while playing for the Red Sox. Bradley, who was awarded a Gold Glove in 2018 as well, signed a free agent contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021. Bradley is now on his way to his sixth Major League Baseball team in the previous three years, following runs with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

Bradley, who batted a horrifying.133 with a sub-.400 OPS for the Royals last season, definitely shouldn’t have too high of hopes. Although Bradley played in 40 games in the Atlantic League this season, he batted.400 with 12 home runs and 35 RBIs, suggesting that he might still have some value.

The previous month or two has seen the Mets surge, and at 51-48, they presently hold a Wild Card berth in the NL. They don’t appear to be going to make any significant sales by the trade deadline in one week, or at the very least,
