**Florida Panthers Agree to Terms with Defenseman Adam Boqvist on One-Year Contract**

**SUNRISE, Fla.** – The Florida Panthers’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Bill Zito announced that the team has signed defenseman Adam Boqvist to a one-year contract. Boqvist, 23, played 35 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2023-24 season, tallying 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists). Over five NHL seasons with Columbus and the Chicago Blackhawks, he has accumulated 85 points (23 goals, 62 assists) in 209 games.

The 6-foot, 189-pound Swede was named to the OHL Second All-Star Team in 2018-19 after scoring 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) in 54 games for the London Knights, where he led the team in assists. Before his North American career, Boqvist played 15 games in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) with Brynäs IF, recording one assist, and posted 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 43 games with Brynäs’ junior team.

 

Internationally, Boqvist won a bronze medal with Sweden at the 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he led all defensemen in goals (3) and points (7) and was named Best Defenseman. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, leading all players with seven assists in five games. Boqvist was selected eighth overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2018 NHL Draft. His older brother Jesper also signed a one-year contract with Florida on July 1.
