Following their Summer League exit, the Golden State Warriors are said to have made personnel decisions quickly after their Semifinal loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday, 102-99.
According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the Warriors have now signed forward Jackson Rowe to a training camp contract, following the signing of Daeqwon Ploweden to a two-way deal earlier in the week.
Following an outstanding Summer League campaign, Jackson Rowe may be the first of several players the Golden State Warriors sign to a training camp contract.
In less than 27 minutes on Sunday, Rowe recorded six points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals against the Heat. Prior to the game, Rowe had averaged 12.7 points on 51.7% shooting from the field and 36.8% from three-point range in his previous three Summer League games.
The 6’7″ forward spent the previous season with Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, thus he has prior ties to the team. In 2023–24, Rowe averaged 13.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 35.6% on more than six three-point tries per game and 49.4% from the field.
Rowe might not be the only player to sign a training camp deal with the team in the near future, as he was among several players who stood out during the squad’s 7-1 overall record after Vegas and the California Classic.
On Sunday, Kevin Knox finished his season with a spectacular 31-point performance (12-of-17 shooting, 5-of-10 three-point range) against the Heat. The former ninth overall selection also grabbed 11 rebounds to almost lead the Warriors to victory.
In addition, guards Yuri Collins and Ethan Thompson showed promise and might be invited to training camp. Quinten Post, the 52nd overall pick, has not yet been formally signed by Golden State to a standard or two-way deal. Plowden, Pat Spencer, and Reece Beekman presently occupy the two-way places; although, the latter was not seen after the California Classic’s first two games.
Rowe has already prepared himself to battle for a two-way contract during training camp, but it will still be a difficult assignment given the possibility that he could spend additional time in the G League in Santa Cruz the next season.
