Latest Vols News: Just In Tennessee Volunteers Confirm The Departure Of Another Highly Rated Star

**Tennessee Baseball Freshman Infielder Announces Transfer Destination**

Former Tennessee baseball freshman infielder Camden Bates has announced his decision to transfer to Arizona State. Bates, who entered the transfer portal on July 3, is one of eight Vols to do so this summer.

“God is so good!” Bates shared on Instagram. “Thank you, Tennessee, for an amazing first year and for all the relationships I built. I am excited to announce I will be transferring to Arizona State University. Thank you to everyone who has helped me through this journey.”

Bates played in 10 games this season for the Vols, receiving eight at-bats and recording two hits for a .250 average. One of his hits was a three-run home run against Alabama A&M, marking his first career home run.

A native of Washington, Oklahoma, Bates was ranked as the No. 377 overall prospect in the class of 2023 by Perfect Game. He was also the No. 74 shortstop and the No. 4 overall player in Oklahoma out of Washington High School.

Bates was one of four infielders to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining third baseman Zane Denton, middle infielder Bradke Lohry, and utility man Robin Villeneuve. Denton, who sat out the past season, has committed to Austin Peay, Lohry to USF, and Villeneuve to Texas Tech.

Redshirt-sophomore left-handed pitcher Wyatt Evans was the first to enter the portal after being left off the active roster before the season. Tennessee freshmen pitchers Matthew Dallas, Daniel Parris, and Derek Schaefer also chose to transfer. Evans has committed to South Carolina, Dallas to Wake Forest, and Schaefer to Arizona State.
