Breaking: Brad Treliving Confirm The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Superstar To A Deal Worth…

Toronto Maple Leafs Sign Connor Dewar to One-Year, $1.18 Million Contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Connor Dewar to a one-year contract worth $1.18 million, avoiding an arbitration hearing.

Dewar, 25, played 17 regular season games for the Leafs last season, scoring one goal and four assists while averaging just under 13 minutes of ice time per game. He was a key player in Toronto’s bottom six and contributed to the penalty kill with an average of 2:23 shorthanded play per game.

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Dewar appeared in six of the seven games in the first round against the Boston Bruins, recording one assist and 14 hits. Dewar was acquired from the Minnesota Wild at the trade deadline, along with a 2026 fourth-round pick, in exchange for forward Dmitry Ovchinnikov. Originally a 2018 third-round pick by the Wild, Dewar spent parts of six seasons with the franchise.

As the Leafs prepare for the next season, new head coach Craig Berube will be assessing Dewar’s performance in training camp and the preseason. Dewar will need to demonstrate his strong two-way game and resilience to secure his spot amid intense internal competition. Berube emphasizes hard work, which aligns with Dewar’s playing style.

With Dewar’s signing, Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has only Nick Robertson left unsigned from the active roster. There have been rumors about Robertson wanting to leave Toronto, making it a key storyline to watch as the offseason progresses. Toronto has $1.2 million remaining in cap space for the 2024-25 season.
