LSU Cornerback Charged with Video Voyeurism
LSU sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano is facing charges for allegedly recording sexual acts with a woman without her consent. Toviano, 19, from Arlington, Texas, surrendered to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office on July 22, accused of video voyeurism.
According to an arrest affidavit, a woman reported to detectives on July 8 that she discovered nonconsensual videos of herself and Toviano on his iPad. The recordings were made using a clock with a built-in camera placed on a dresser near the bed. The woman claimed that Toviano had previously recorded their sexual encounters without her consent, despite her objections.
Initially, the woman was hesitant to provide her phone as evidence or proceed with the investigation. However, she later returned to the sheriff’s office with Toviano’s iPad, laptop, and the camera-equipped clock. When she tried to discuss the video with Toviano, he refused to engage. During an interview, Toviano admitted to using the hidden camera to record them without her consent.
Toviano’s bond information and attorney details were not immediately available. LSU stated that Toviano “has been suspended from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies” and declined further comment to respect the legal process.
Toviano signed with LSU in 2023, playing in every game as a freshman. He made three starts in the last five games, finishing his freshman season with 33 tackles and one pass breakup. He was expected to compete for playing time at cornerback as LSU begins preseason practice on Aug. 1.
