**Former Sinton Pirate Baseball Star Commits to Longhorns**
A former standout from Sinton High School’s baseball team is set to join one of the nation’s top programs. On July 22, Jaquae Stewart announced his commitment to the University of Texas after playing the 2024 season with Northwest Florida State College. He will be reuniting with his former Sinton teammate and current Longhorn catcher, Rylan Galvan.
“Y’all gonna love this one!” Galvan tweeted in response to Stewart’s commitment.
Stewart had an impressive season with Northwest Florida State, hitting .346 and leading the team in on-base percentage (.555), slugging percentage (.743), and OPS (1.198).
His performance helped the Raiders reach the championship game of the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) World Series.
Prior to the World Series, Stewart received first-team tournament honors during the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament in late May and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
