Good News: Gregg Popovich Official Announce The Signing Of Another Top Experienced NBA Star To Pair Victor Wembanyama

According to Keith Smith of Spotrac, the San Antonio Spurs have signed Riley Minix to a training camp contract. Minix had a standout college basketball season at Morehead State, averaging 20.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 54.1% from the field and 34.9% from three-point range over 35 games.

Keith Smith announced the signing on Sunday evening, noting that Minix’s deal is likely for training camp purposes only. While Minix may not make the main roster, he has a strong chance of playing for the Austin Spurs in the G League, which could potentially lead to a two-way contract or a 10-day call-up.

During the NBA Summer League, Minix averaged 12.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 44.8% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. SpursReport highlighted Minix’s versatility, scoring ability, defensive skills, and strong character as reasons he fits well with the Spurs.

The Spurs finished the 2023-24 season with a 22-60 record, placing 14th in the Western Conference and missing the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. However, there’s renewed excitement around the team due to the 2024 Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, who is expected to become an All-Star as soon as next season.
