The Minnesota Vikings have begun training camp and have made multiple roster changes in response to cornerback Mekhi Blackmon’s season-ending injury. Blackmon was placed on injured reserve on Thursday.
Cornerback Jacobi Francis and linebacker Jabril Cox have signed with the organization. The team cut undrafted free agent linebacker K.J. Cloyd to create space on the roster.
Additionally, after passing his formal physical, the team removed running back DeWayne McBride from the Non-Football Injury list.
Cox attended North Dakota State University for his collegiate football career. He was a member of the Bison’s three National Championship teams and a two-time FCS All-American. The Dallas Cowboys selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played with the
Dallas Cowboys for two seasons, with his first campaign ending in injury due to an ACL tear sustained against the Vikings. He joined with the Washington Commanders practice squad after being waived by Dallas as part of their final cuts in 2023, and he was promoted to the team’s regular roster halfway through the season.
Francis joined the Houston Texans in 2022 after being selected undrafted out of Memphis. Although he was occasionally added to the starting lineup, he played the majority of the season on the practice squad. Prior to being waived in October 2023, he was a member of the Texans’ practice squad. Following that, he did not sign with any team.
We’ll update you here if the Vikings make any additional moves today.
