Coach Brian Callahan announced on Thursday that cornerback Chidobe Awuzie of the Tennessee Titans will miss a few weeks of training camp because of a calf ailment.
A few roster adjustments were also made by the Titans. They added outside linebacker Shane Ray, a Denver Broncos first-round selection in 2015 who took part in a tryout during Tennessee’s rookie minicamp. Center Corey Levin, a 2017 draft selection who spent the previous three seasons with the organization, was also retained by the team.
They waived rookie running back Dillon Johnson, who was not selected, on Thursday to free up room.
Harold Landry, an outside linebacker, has missed the first two days of camp due to illness. Callahan stated that after Landry returns, he would be eased back into the practice.
One of the Titans’ most important free agency acquisitions this offseason was Awuzie.
He was signed by the team without a contract from the Cincinnati Bengals, but on Wednesday, the opening day of training camp, he departed the field early.
“Chido’s calf injury will keep him out of action for a while. Probably a few weeks from now. Callahan remarked, “He’s out here, but he’s not practicing.”
Along with L’Jarius Sneed, Awuzie is a member of the Titans’ newly assembled cornerback group.
The Titans are taking great care with Sneed’s practice regimen. Despite not taking part in either team or 7-on-7 drills on Thursday, Sneed—who was obtained in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs—was on the practice field.
“I didn’t do camp at all in Kansas City, but I’m trying to work into camp and get into it here,” Sneed remarked. For me, they have a strategy. There are days when I merely practice and days when I do what I did today. They have me on a very decent schedule.
