Official NBA News: Pat Riley Officially Announced Miami Heat Has Waive Another Top Veteran Today Due To Salary Cap

**Miami Heat Waive Zyon Pullin, Sign Summer League Standout to Two-Way Contract**

The Miami Heat have waived Zyon Pullin and signed Josh Christopher to a two-way contract, the team announced Thursday.

Christopher, the MVP of the Summer League Championship, played a crucial role in the Heat’s victory in Las Vegas. He averaged 19.3 points, three rebounds, 1.8 assists, and two steals per game, shooting 54.1% overall and 52.5% from three-point range. In the championship game against the Memphis Grizzlies, he scored a team-high 24 points, and added three steals and two blocks.

Christopher’s performance earned him the two-way contract. The 6-foot-4 guard, with a 6-foot-9 wingspan, was the 24th pick in the 2021 draft by the Houston Rockets. After two seasons with the Rockets and brief stints with the Grizzlies and Utah Jazz, he joined the Heat’s G League affiliate in Sioux Falls last season, leading to his inclusion on Miami’s Summer League team.

Christopher showcased his scoring abilities and improved defense during Summer League, securing his spot with the Heat. He replaces Pullin, who went undrafted out of Florida and initially signed a two-way contract with the Heat but failed to make an impact in Las Vegas, losing his starting job to Isaiah Stevens.

The Heat now have Keshad Johnson, Dru Smith, and Christopher as their three two-way players. Despite missing the final three games of Summer League with an ankle sprain, Johnson is likely to keep his two-way spot. Smith, recovering from an ACL tear, did not participate in Summer League.

The Heat may still make changes, as they can swap out their two-way spots at any time without affecting the salary cap or luxury tax. Potential candidates for a two-way spot include Stevens, Cole Swider, and Alondes Williams.
