Miami made a significant addition to its 2025 recruiting class on Friday, securing a commitment from five-star offensive lineman S.J. Alofaituli. The Hurricanes outpaced Michigan and Nebraska to land the top interior offensive lineman, who hails from Bishop Gorman High School in Nevada and is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the ESPN 300.
Alofaituli, a 6-foot-3, 285-pound guard, visited Miami, Michigan, and Nebraska last month before making his decision. His commitment marks the highest-ranked recruit for Miami in the 2025 class so far. This pledge brings Coach Mario Cristobal’s commitment total to 10 since June 18, including notable recruits like former USC commit Hylton Stubbs, inside linebacker Gavin Nix, defensive end Herbert Scroggins, and cornerback Chris Ewald. The highest-ranked defender in the class remains four-star inside linebacker Elijah Melendez, who has been committed since December.
One of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 class, Alofaituli had numerous offers from SEC and Big Ten programs. His choice to join Miami was influenced by the strong reputation of the Hurricanes’ offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and the program’s success in developing offensive linemen.
Alofaituli, originally from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, has been a standout at Bishop Gorman, where he will finish his high school career as a four-year starter. He is expected to play as a guard or center at the collegiate level. He plans to close his recruitment following his commitment but remains open to future visits if necessary.
With Alofaituli’s commitment, Miami’s recruiting momentum continues to build, positioning the team favorably as July progresses.
