In order to support Brian Daboll and the new defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, will the NY Giants ultimately make another defensive back move? We’re trying to learn more quickly. Bobby McCain was a former safety with the G-Men, and we know he won’t be back.
This is due to the fact that the seasoned wide receiver inked a new contract with Minnesota Vikings, the team that NY will face in Week 1. Though it’s not a huge loss for NY or anything, Joe Schoen and company may have benefited from Minnesota’s decision. This is a result of McCain being signed by the NFC North, but Stephon Gilmore is still available and eager to find a new residence.
McCain, who has experience at a CB as well, played in ten games for the Giants during the previous campaign but did not record any starts. The Vikings signed this player for depth at a low cost, which is not what their supporters had hoped for. Nope, a cursory glance at social media reveals that Minnesotans are more interested in Xavien Howard or Gilmore.
The Giants supporters are comparable in this regard. Although he recently signed, veteran wide receiver Breon Borders is merely a depth addition, much like McCain. Even Cor’Dale Flott has witnessed supporters urging Schoen to move for a seasoned corner, with many putting Gilmore at the top of their list.
Gilmore has long been associated with the Vikings, but no action has been taken there. Although it’s unclear if Gilmore will be pursued by the Giants and Schoen, he would undoubtedly suit the Big Blue defense in many ways.
All we can do for the time being is reload ‘X’ to check for any new Gilmore information from Ian Rapoport or Adam Schefter. Regarding McCain, he hopes to establish himself at camp in Minnesota and make it back for the first-round game against his old squad.
