The Buffalo Bills have bolstered their safety position by signing veteran Kareem Jackson to a one-year contract. Jackson, who has spent 15 seasons in the NFL, was most recently with the Houston Texans. He will be donning jersey number 27 for the Bills.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced on Monday that safety Mike Edwards will be sidelined for a week or more due to a hamstring injury.
Throughout his career, Jackson has started 193 of 203 regular-season games, along with eight postseason games, playing for the Houston Texans (2010-18, 2023) and the Denver Broncos (2019-23).
He has accumulated 954 tackles and 22 interceptions, with three of those picks being returned for touchdowns.
Jackson was selected by the Houston Texans as the 20th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft following his college career at Alabama, where he was part of the 2009 BCS National Championship team. He hails from Macon, Georgia.
To accommodate Jackson, the Bills have released linebacker Shayne Simon.
