Good News: Just In Another Five-Star Commit To Tennessee Vols

Tennessee basketball was mentioned in the list of favorites given by five-star forward Caleb Wilson on Tuesday night. In his ranking of the top 12, the Vols were joined by Arkansas, Duke, North Carolina, Alabama, UCF, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Oregon, Kentucky, Ohio State, and USC.

Wilson is the sixth-ranked player overall in the class of 2025 according to 247Sports. Out of Holy Innocents Episcopal School in Atlanta, he is regarded as the third-best power forward overall and the best player in the state of Georgia. Wilson is ranked as the No. 2 power forward and fourth overall player in the industry-generated composite rankings.

Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee State are currently thought to be Wilson’s top recruiting options. When he traveled to Knoxville over the last weekend of September to witness UT’s football team defeat South Carolina, 41-20, he made his first trip to Tennessee last fall.
At the time, Wilson told 247’s Brandon Jenkins, “The visit was really nice.” “Their amenities were absolutely lovely. Their arena can accommodate a large number of people, making it a large stage. After coaching Kevin Durant at Texas, Coach Barnes has a lot of experience with large wings. I admire that about them, and it’s what I want to be too.”

The 205-pound, 6-foot-9 forward has also visited Stanford, North Carolina, Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn, Georgia, and North Carolina.

To round up the AAU circuit this summer, Wilson averaged 17.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 1.9 steals per game at Peach Jam while shooting 62% from the floor.

Following Peach Jam, national basketball analyst Travis Branham of 247Sports wrote of Caleb Wilson, “In April, he was putting up good numbers on the EYBL circuit but was struggling to lift his Georgia Stars team.” “Wilson switched to the Nightrydas and experienced a learning curve in the ensuing weeks. He was free to take shots whenever he pleased in the past, but now he has to provide support to other top players, such as Dante Allen, Alex Lloyd, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, and others. Though it wasn’t always elegant, Wilson managed to solve problems. He became a significant X-Factor for the Nightrydas as a result.

“Wilson finished at the rim by cutting, slashing, and using his quickness and skill on offense. He was also hitting several mid-range shots. However, his defense was what really set the championship squad apart. He moved all over the floor and was an excellent help-side defender.

In the class of 2025, Tennessee presently has one commitment: Hoover, Alabama’s DeWayne Brown, a four-star center. In the most recent recruiting cycle, UT signed Bishop Boswell, a four-star guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, who was a high school talent.

The Volunteers signed only one high school talent this past offseason, but they did add four transfers to the mix. They added guard Chaz Lanier of North Florida, center Felix Okpara of Ohio State, forward Igor Milicic Jr. of Charlotte, and wing Darlinstone Dubar of Hofstra via the portal. Lanier, Dubar, and Milicic are in their senior year.

After the 2024–25 season, Tennessee will lose guard Jordan Gainey, wing Jahmai Mashack, and starting point guard Zakai Zeigler from the backcourt.
