Latest Heat News: Two-way gem immediate reaction after signing deal with Miami Heat

Josh Christopher, a standout Summer League player, and the Miami Heat reached a two-way agreement on Thursday.

In response to the announcement, the 22-year-old expressed his readiness to start working and thanked the Heat on social media.
After Christopher assisted the Heat in winning the Summer League championship in Las Vegas, he was voted the game’s MVP. He shot 6-for-10 from outside the arc and 9-for-17 from the field to record 24 points, four rebounds, one assist, three steals, and two blocks in the championship game.

Christopher averaged 19.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game in six Las Vegas Summer League games. 54.1 percent of his field goals and 52.5 percent of his three-pointers were made by him.
Christopher’s tenure with the Houston Rockets has given him some genuine NBA experience. After being selected in the first round by the Rockets in 2021, he spent two seasons playing in 138 regular-season games with them.

He shot 45.5 percent from the field and 27.7 percent from outside the arc during that time, averaging 6.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

The Memphis Grizzlies waived Christopher after the Rockets sent him to them during the 2023 offseason. He played in the G League, even spending some time with the Heat’s G League franchise, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, in 2023–24 instead of the NBA.

He’ll have another shot to prove that he belongs in the NBA after displaying some promise with the Skyforce the previous season and then recently making a big impression in Summer League with the Heat.
It’s no secret that the Heat have a talent for developing underappreciated players into diamonds, and Christopher might be Miami’s next big success. He resembles a textbook Heat project in certain aspects.

The young player might not have a big impact for Miami in 2024–25, but based on his most recent Instagram story, he’s prepared to put in a lot of effort to take advantage of his chance. Now that the offseason is over, he can use it to get ready for the upcoming campaign.
