**Raiders May Target Former First-Round CB Adoree’ Jackson**
The Las Vegas Raiders have been notably subdued in addressing their cornerback needs this offseason. Despite the position being a top priority, the team has neither signed a high-profile free agent nor drafted one early.
As training camp begins, only Jack Jones has established himself as a potential starter. Bleacher Report has suggested that the Raiders might sign free agent cornerback Adoree’ Jackson.
“This move makes sense for all parties involved,” noted the B/R NFL Scouting Department in a July 31 column.
While the Raiders have some promising young corners, the overall situation remains uncertain. Jack Jones performed well after joining the team midseason, and Nate Hobbs is effective as a slot corner.
The Raiders can’t solely depend on the development of younger players.
“There’s a lot riding on the growth of Jakorian Bennett and rookies Decamerion Richardson and MJ Devonshire,” B/R observed.
Signing Adoree’ Jackson could ease the pressure on these young players. Jackson, who had a standout season with defensive coordinator Patrick Graham when both were with the New York Giants, could be a good fit now that Graham has joined the Raiders.
Jackson, a former first-round pick, has started 77 games and served as a team captain. Despite not fully living up to his draft status, his experience and leadership would benefit the Raiders’ young secondary. The cost to sign Jackson would likely be low, making it a risk worth taking. If the Raiders are dissatisfied with their cornerbacks’ performance in training camp, Jackson could be a viable option.
Jakorian Bennett, a key player for the Raiders, is aiming for a starting role. Though he was benched last season due to performance issues, he has the potential to succeed if he improves. Bennett remains confident and believes his hard work and commitment are recognized by his teammates.
The preseason will be crucial for Bennett to prove his readiness, even against backup players.
