The Rams were informed earlier this week that Jonah Jackson, their starting left guard, was expected to miss the whole preseason due to a shoulder injury. According to Rams senior staff writer Stu Jackson, the hits keep coming as we find out that two more starting linemen for the Rams are sidelined with injuries in preseason.
In a recent update, head coach Sean McVay named right tackle Rob Havenstein and left tackle Alaric Jackson as “week-to-week” players. A week-to-week status wouldn’t usually get much attention, but the Rams will be without three starting lineman in the upcoming weeks due to Jonah’s injury.
Los Angeles will be fielding a “Rolodex of guys” while the Jacksons and Havenstein are out. Although McVay says he isn’t too worried about the injuries, the absence of the starters in the upcoming weeks may negatively impact the group’s potential cohesion. The loss of time could be detrimental to the team’s efficacy in the early going of the season, especially with Jonah Jackson, the new starter, and Steve Avila, the left guard from last season, moving to center.
