According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, veteran safety Quandre Diggs and the Tennessee Titans have reached an agreement on a one-year contract for up to $5 million.
Later, Diggs announced the “long awaited news” on his social media, confirming the agreement.
The eleven-year veteran left in free agency this offseason after playing with the Seattle Seahawks for the previous five years.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Diggs’ contract will feature a $3 million base salary plus an additional $1 million in performance-based incentives and attainable bonuses dependent on playing time.
In addition to recording a career-high 95 tackles last year, the three-time Pro Bowler Diggs also had five passes deflected and one interception. In March, the Seahawks terminated both Diggs and fellow safety Jamal Adams, despite Diggs having another strong season. Seattle saved $27.5 million by making this change.
Diggs, a three-time Pro Bowler, signed a contract with the Titans in July, so he now plays with Adams in Tennessee. The two will work together to strengthen Tennessee’s secondary, which allowed 21.6 points and 335.1 yards per game the previous season.
The Titans have struggled over the last two seasons, going 7-10 and 6-11, respectively, after winning the AFC South in 2021. Diggs and Adams joining the secondary will help them try to turn things around and reclaim a postseason spot.
