Breaking: Just In Florida State Officially Announced The Departure Of Another Top Experienced Star After Declining New Contract

Johnny Wilson, a wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles and former Florida State standout, will make his NFL debut on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. when the Eagles play the Baltimore Ravens to start the preseason.

Wilson was selected by the Eagles with the 185th overall choice in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he appears to have made an impression in the spring and may establish himself as a starter right away as he is already getting first-team reps with quarterback Jalen Hurts.

It’s been excellent. Wilson told the media, “I worked hard with Jalen and a few other guys in the offseason, just building up those reps and the whole connection with everybody and the whole receiver depth chart.” “It’s been great getting some of those first-team reps, and I’m just trying to keep on building day in and day out.”
The 6’6″ and 228-pound wide receiver, who helped lead the ‘Noles to an ACC Championship Title in 2024 and a perfect 13-0 regular season, was the tallest wide receiver selected in the last ten years.

The rapport and bond he shared with quarterback Jordan Travis during his two years at Florida State will be long remembered by Seminole supporters. Hurts’ transition to the practice fields has been aided by his effort in the offseason, according to Wilson, who also stated that it was equally vital for him to be among the other receivers.

“I feel like the trust and connection with your quarterback and even the other receivers is just big on being able to make plays and being able to trust each other, and to know where everyone is going to be—in the right spot, at the right timing,” Wilson stated. “I feel like that played a big part throughout this camp.”

The starters will probably play a few series before the sides begin to rotate their depth chart, as is the case with many preseason games. During his two seasons in Tallahassee, Wilson finished with 84 receptions for 1,514 yards and seven scores. On Friday night, you could watch him high-pointing passes from Hurts and the other Eagles quarterbacks in the red zone.
