After 11 seasons and a Super Bowl MVP award, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles announced his retirement on Instagram on Thursday, ending the period he had in the NFL.
Foles shared this statement on his social media accounts.
“I am immensely appreciative of the chance to retire as a Philadelphia Eagle,” stated Foles, who will be honored on Monday, September 16, during the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field opener against the Atlanta Falcons in 2024. As an NFL player, the City of Brotherly Love has always seemed like home. I genuinely adore Philadelphia, and I consider it an honor to be wearing an Eagles jersey. I am grateful to Philadelphia for accepting me and integrating me into your family for all time. It has meant the world to have your love and support. Eagles, take flight!
During his final two years in Philadelphia, Foles, 30, had a 4-1 postseason record and was named MVP of Super Bowl LII. During his final two seasons in Philadelphia, Foles went 6-2 in the regular season to lead the Eagles to two postseason appearances in lieu of an ailing Carson Wentz.
Over his eleven seasons, Nick Foles played for six clubs, the Eagles and Bears among them.
Throughout his career, Foles has passed for 14,227 yards and 82 touchdowns, receiving the Lombardi Trophy, MVP of the Super Bowl, and one Pro Bowl nomination.
