Angel Reese Makes Recruiting Pitch for Another Top Talented Star To Join Chicago Sky

Angel Reese has publicly invited Gabby Williams to rejoin the Chicago Sky after an impressive showing by Williams at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Reese, who is actively working to enhance the Sky’s roster, reached out to Williams following her standout performance in the gold medal game against Team USA.

In the game, Williams, who played for France’s Women’s National Team, was a significant threat, scoring 19 points, securing seven rebounds, and hitting three of six three-point attempts, including some crucial shots in the final moments. Despite her efforts, France fell short, with the U.S. winning 67-66 to secure their eighth consecutive gold medal.

Williams was also honored as the Best Defensive Player of the tournament.

After the game, Reese took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her interest in bringing Williams back to the Sky. She wrote, “OK now that the game is over, would you like to be (a part) of the Chicago Sky again?” and tagged Williams, suggesting that it wouldn’t hurt to ask.

Williams previously played for the Sky from 2018 to 2020 after being the No. 4 pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. She also spent two seasons with the Seattle Storm (2022-2023) and earned a spot on the second-team All-Defensive Team. Williams took a break from the WNBA in 2021 to prepare for the Tokyo Olympics and has missed part of the 2024 season to train with the French team.

Reese, currently enjoying a standout rookie season with the Sky, is averaging 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. She was named WNBA Rookie of the Month in June and set a league record for consecutive double-doubles with 15. Now, after the Olympics, Reese has transitioned from player to recruiter—will Williams consider returning to Chicago?
