ESPN News: Green Bay Packers Officially Announced Departure Of Another Top Experienced Superstar After Turning Down New Contract Offer

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed cornerback Kiondre Thomas to a one-year deal, as announced on Thursday. He fills the spot on the 90-man offseason roster left by Grayland Arnold, who was placed on the injured reserve list.

Thomas, 26, previously spent two seasons with the Green Bay Packers and has also had stints with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Roughnecks of the UFL.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, Thomas has primarily played as an outside cornerback during his three seasons in the NFL, while Arnold had been used as a slot cornerback and safety for the Steelers.

Thomas began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2021 after playing college football at Kansas State. After suffering an injury during his first preseason game, he was released but later joined the Chargers’ practice squad. He signed with the Packers after the 2022 season but spent most of his time between the practice squad and active roster without seeing game action. He was released from the Packers’ practice squad on October 17, 2023.

This spring, Thomas played for the Houston Roughnecks in the UFL, where he recorded 14 tackles and an interception over the 10-game season. He briefly signed with the Carolina Panthers on July 26, but was waived a week later.

Originally from Fort Smith, Arkansas, Thomas spent four years at Minnesota before transferring to Kansas State for his redshirt senior season in 2020. During pre-draft testing, he posted an impressive 4.44-second 40-yard dash but had a below-average 4.35-second short shuttle, resulting in a Relative Athletic Score of 7.28 out of 10.
