Good News: Don Sweeney Officially Confirm The Addition Of Two Highly Rated Stars To Rookie Camp To Bolster squad Depth

The Boston Bruins are gearing up for their Rookie Camp, which kicks off on September 11. General Manager Don Sweeney is finalizing the roster, and on Thursday, he extended an invitation to 18-year-old goaltender Keegan Warren. Hailing from Conception Bay South in Newfoundland and Labrador, Warren played last season for the Moncton Wildcats in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). In 23 games, he recorded a 13-6-1 record, with a 3.19 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound goalie was drafted by Moncton in the 14th round, 242nd overall, in the 2021 QMJHL Draft.

According to the 2024 NHL Draft Guide from Elite Prospects, Warren is a calm and composed goaltender who excels at tracking the puck, controlling rebounds, and positioning himself well for multiple save opportunities. He also adjusts quickly to changes in shooting angles.

The Bruins’ goaltending depth has been a notable strength. In addition to their NHL goalies, Brandon Bussi, Michael DiPietro, and Ryan Bischel are on one-year deals with the Providence Bruins, while Philip Svedeback is set to begin his junior year at Providence College.

Warren’s Moncton teammate, 20-year-old center Markus Vidicek, is also expected to attend the Bruins camp. Vidicek, who hails from Montreal, tallied 45 goals and 43 assists for Halifax in the QMJHL last season. Standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 165 pounds, he is entering his fifth season in the league. Elite Prospects described Vidicek as a player who supports play well and makes advanced reads, often opting to build plays rather than immediately taking shots.
