Breaking: Detroit Lions Officially Waived Another Top Veteran Following Contract Dispute

The Detroit Lions have made changes to their defensive lineup by waiving injured safety Morice Norris, who had been impressive in training camp, and signing cornerback Javelin Guidry. Norris, a standout in both the secondary and special teams, suffered a hamstring injury, as noted by head coach Dan Campbell. With the Lions dealing with multiple injuries among cornerbacks—such as Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw, and Emmanuel Moseley—the team needed to bolster their secondary.

Guidry, who has 32 NFL games and five starts under his belt, has played for several teams, including the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons. He originally went undrafted in 2020 but secured a spot on the Jets’ final roster.

Additionally, the Lions recently signed Essang Bassey to further strengthen their secondary. Guidry and Bassey are expected to serve as depth while the team navigates its current injury concerns, with some players, like Arnold, unlikely to participate in the upcoming preseason game against Kansas City.
