Breaking: New Orleans Saints Officially Waived Another Top Experienced Fans Favorite Star After Rejecting New Contract Offer

The New York Giants have waived defensive lineman Ryder Anderson due to an injury he sustained during the team’s preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday, where he hurt his hamstring. Anderson had been receiving first-team defensive reps this summer, positioning him as a strong candidate to secure a spot on the Giants’ defensive line.

Anderson joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent from Indiana following the 2022 NFL Draft. Although he didn’t make the Giants’ 53-man roster out of training camp during his rookie season, he spent most of that year on the practice squad. He was elevated from the practice squad for Weeks 6 and 7 before being promoted to the active roster on December 16, where he finished the season.

Last year, Anderson once again fell short of making the Giants’ 53-man roster and was signed to the practice squad for the entire season. After the 2023 season ended, he signed a reserve/futures contract with the team, keeping him with the Giants heading into the current offseason.

In total, Anderson appeared in seven games for the Giants, where he recorded eight tackles (four solo) and two sacks, showing promise as a potential pass-rushing specialist. Despite his potential and strong summer showing, his hamstring injury has sidelined him, leading the Giants to waive him to clear a roster spot.

With this move, Anderson will be placed on injured reserve if he clears waivers, or he could reach an injury settlement if another team claims him. His future with the Giants, or another NFL team, will depend on his recovery and opportunities that arise once he’s healthy again.
