Auburn football tight end commit Ryan Ghea is actively working to recruit other top talents to join his class, with his primary focus on flipping 5-star quarterback Deuce Knight, who is currently committed to Notre Dame. Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is on the rise, but they have yet to secure a quarterback, which has become a significant target for head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff.
Initially, Julian “Juju” Lewis was the priority for Auburn, but recently, the focus has shifted toward Knight, a highly-rated quarterback from Lucedale, Mississippi. Although Knight committed to Notre Dame in September 2023, Auburn has continued to pursue him. Knight and his family visited Auburn during Big Cat Weekend earlier this summer, where he received a full recruiting pitch from the Tigers’ coaching staff.
Ghea, who committed to Auburn in November of last year, has taken on an additional role as a recruiter for the Tigers. He is particularly focused on convincing Knight to flip his commitment and join Auburn before the season starts on August 31.
Ghea has expressed his dedication to the cause, telling Auburn Rivals that he plans to attend every home game this season to help with recruiting efforts.
“I got a lot of recruiting to do,” Ghea said. “Hopefully we can get our QB here in the next two weeks.”
Ghea remains in close contact with Knight, who is receiving considerable attention as a top prospect. His efforts are part of a broader push to strengthen Auburn’s 2025 class, which currently includes 22 commits and is ranked #5 overall and #4 in the SEC. Ghea’s determination to land a top quarterback like Knight is seen as a crucial step in solidifying Auburn’s class and ensuring they have the talent needed to compete at the highest level.
