Nikola Jokic’s close friend and former EuroLeague MVP Vasilije Micic has been linked to the Denver Nuggets, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. Stein reported that Micic, who currently has a $7.7 million salary and an $8.1 million team option for the 2025-26 season, is being considered as a potential trade target for the Nuggets due to his strong relationship with Jokic.
However, acquiring Micic could present financial challenges for Denver. Stein noted that trading for Micic would push the Nuggets close to the second luxury tax apron, limiting their ability to build their roster in the future. Denver is currently only about $5 million away from reaching that threshold, making it difficult for them to take on Micic’s contract without encountering these financial restrictions.
Micic, a 30-year-old point guard, joined the NBA last summer with the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded to the Charlotte Hornets. In that trade, he was part of a package that included Dāvis Bertāns, Tre Mann, and two second-round picks, sent to Charlotte in exchange for Gordon Hayward.
Micic is under contract for the upcoming season, with a team option for the following year. Recently, he represented Serbia at the Paris Olympics, where he averaged 13.3 points and 4.5 assists per game, contributing to Serbia’s bronze medal win.
