Four-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon has changed his commitment from Alabama to Tennessee, impacting Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class. The Rome, Georgia native originally committed to Alabama but announced on Sunday that he now intends to join the Tennessee Volunteers.
In a social media post, Harmon expressed gratitude to the Alabama staff for their belief in him and the opportunity to play for a prestigious program. He concluded the post by asking others to respect his decision.
Harmon, ranked as the No. 18 linebacker and No. 155 player overall in the nation according to 247Sports composite rankings, tagged Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel and linebackers coach William Inge in his announcement. Inge previously served on Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer’s staff while at Washington.
During his junior season in 2023, Harmon recorded 80 tackles, including eight for loss and five sacks. He had committed to Alabama in April and made visits to Tuscaloosa.
Following Harmon’s decommitment, Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class now stands at 19 commitments. This class is the first full recruiting cycle under head coach Kalen DeBoer and remains ranked No. 2 nationally by 247Sports, trailing only Ohio State.
Meanwhile, Tennessee’s recruiting class is ranked No. 6 nationally, with LSU, Georgia, and Auburn also ahead of Alabama.
Despite losing Harmon, Alabama still has a strong linebacker group in the 2025 class, including five-star Darrell “Duke” Johnson, four-star Dawson Merritt, and three-stars Abduall Sanders Jr. and Luke Metz.
