The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have reached a three-year contract agreement with forward Teuvo Teravainen, securing his services through the 2026–2027 season. The deal comes with a salary cap hit of $5.4 million per year.
Teravainen, who is 29 years old, has a deep history with the Blackhawks, having been a key contributor to their 2015 Stanley Cup victory. “Having Teuvo back in Chicago makes us very happy,” said Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson. “He was a big part of our 2015 Stanley Cup team, and we’re excited to have his leadership and experience back in our room.”
This past season, Teravainen showcased his talent with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he played in 76 regular-season games. He recorded 53 points, comprising 25 goals and 28 assists. Notably, he set new career highs in goals, reaching the 25-goal mark for the first time in his career. He also displayed a knack for clutch performances, scoring four game-winning goals during the regular season. His impact extended into the playoffs as well, where he contributed six points (2 goals, 4 assists) in 11 games for the Hurricanes.
Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 191 pounds, Teravainen is known for his skillful play and versatility on the ice. Originally drafted by the Blackhawks, Teravainen’s return to Chicago marks a significant homecoming for both the player and the franchise. His addition is expected to bolster the Blackhawks’ roster as they look to build on their recent performances and aim for future success.
