Done Deal: Just In Jason Kidd Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Talented Star

The Dallas Mavericks have solidified their roster moves by officially signing forward Kessler Edwards to a two-way contract, as announced in a recent team press release. Concurrently, the team has decided to waive two-way forward Alex Fudge, creating a vacancy on their roster.

The Mavericks’ agreement with Edwards had been reported last month, and now it’s official. Edwards, who began his NBA career with the Brooklyn Nets and most recently played for the Sacramento Kings, has shown potential as a versatile forward. Over his 138 career games, including 27 starts, Edwards has averaged 3.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 11.9 minutes per game. During the 2023 season with the Kings, he appeared in 54 games, contributing an average of 1.7 points in 5.1 minutes per game. Despite his limited playing time, Edwards’ defensive abilities and experience make him a valuable addition to the Mavericks’ depth chart.

Edwards entered the summer as a restricted free agent, but the Kings chose not to extend a qualifying offer, which made him an unrestricted free agent. This allowed the Mavericks to bring him aboard, where he will now split his time between the Mavericks and their G League affiliate under the two-way contract arrangement.

On the other hand, Alex Fudge’s time with the Mavericks has come to an early end. Fudge, who signed a two-way deal with Dallas in March, saw limited action, appearing in only two games. The 20-year-old forward initially began the 2023-2024 season with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-way contract but was waived after participating in just four games. Fudge also showcased his talent in 27 G League games last season, demonstrating his potential despite the limited opportunities at the NBA level.

Fudge, now 21, went undrafted last year after playing college basketball at LSU and Florida. While his stint with the Mavericks was short-lived, his youth and versatility may still present opportunities elsewhere in the league.

With Fudge’s departure, the Mavericks now have an open two-way spot, with guard Brandon Williams occupying the other. This gives Dallas flexibility as they continue to fine-tune their roster ahead of the upcoming season.
