Mitchell joined the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers in May after playing college football at UConn. The Panthers released him on Friday.

Hailing from Ridgefield, Connecticut, Mitchell had an impressive senior season at UConn, where he led the team with 113 tackles, averaging 9.4 per game, placing him 19th in the FBS rankings. His performance included seven tackles for loss, one sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception.

Mitchell recorded five games with 10 or more tackles and finished his college career third on UConn’s all-time tackles list with 438 over four seasons.
