The way the Green Bay Packers’ 2023 season concluded has raised their expectations for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
They were 3-6 at the beginning of the season, but they won six of their next eight games. They also surprised the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card stage of the playoffs, and they came close to defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
Although their offensive line appears to be stacked with talent, there may be a few little concerns about their defense.
They signed defensive lineman Keonte Schad, they announced on their official Twitter account on Thursday.
Schad attended Ellsworth Community College to begin his college football career before transferring to Oregon State University and the University of Minnesota.
He was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 player while attending Oregon State.
In 2023, he finished second in the league with 7.5 sacks after being undrafted in 2022 and joining the New Orleans Breakers of the now-defunct United States Football League (USFL).
Schad joined the United Football League (UFL) Houston Roughnecks in 2024, where he recorded 19 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one tackle for loss.
In that playoff defeat to the 49ers, Green Bay gave up 28th in rushing yards allowed last year, and they struggled to stop the run, allowing Christian McCaffrey to explode in the second half for 98 running yards and two rushing scores.
To live up to the high expectations that surround them, quarterback Jordan Love and their young, talented wide outs might not be enough. Their defense will probably also need to keep improving.
