Breaking: Dallas Cowboys Officially Cut Another Top Player After Turning Down New Contract Offer

The Dallas Cowboys have waived defensive end Shaka Toney from injured reserve with a settlement on Thursday. Toney, 26, was initially drafted by the Washington Commanders in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Penn State. He signed a four-year, $3.6 million rookie contract.

Toney was in the third year of his contract in 2023 when he received an indefinite suspension from the NFL for gambling. After serving a year of suspension, he was reinstated.

Following his reinstatement, the Commanders decided to release Toney in April.

In the 2022 season, Toney played in 16 games for the Commanders, recording eight total tackles and one tackle for loss.
