Done Deal: Spurs Land Another Top Star In 3-Team Trade

**Spurs Acquire Harrison Barnes in Three-Team Trade**

In a notable three-team trade involving the Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and San Antonio Spurs, DeMar DeRozan is headed to the Sacramento Kings, with the San Antonio Spurs acquiring Harrison Barnes. This trade was reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN on Saturday evening.

Wojnarowski detailed the trade on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “ESPN Sources with Tim Bontemps: The Sacramento Kings have agreed on a sign-and-trade that will bring DeMar DeRozan on a three-year deal, send Harrison Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs, and Chris Duarte, two second-round picks, and cash to the Chicago Bulls.”

Additionally, the Kings have sent an unprotected 2031 pick swap to the Spurs.

Harrison Barnes, a seasoned NBA player with 12 years of experience, has spent the last six seasons with the Kings. During his time in Sacramento, he has averaged 14.8 points per game while shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three-point range. Remarkably, Barnes has played all 82 games in each of the past two seasons.

Barnes, who played college basketball at North Carolina, was drafted seventh overall by the Golden State Warriors in the 2012 NBA Draft. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in his debut season and won a championship with the Warriors in the 2014-15 season. After another Finals appearance with Golden State, Barnes signed with the Dallas Mavericks as a free agent, where he averaged 18.7 points per game over two and a half seasons before being traded to the Kings on February 7, 2019.

Barnes is expected to become a starter for the Spurs, given their limited depth at the small forward position. His addition marks San Antonio’s second major offseason move in a week, following their signing of 39-year-old point guard and 12-time All-Star Chris Paul to a one-year contract on June 30.

DeRozan, the key player in this trade, received a three-year, $74 million contract to move from the Bulls to the Kings. Before his three-year stint with the Bulls, the 34-year-old spent three years with the Spurs. DeRozan began his career with the Toronto Raptors, where he played for nine seasons before being traded to San Antonio on August 11, 2021, in a blockbuster deal that included the Spurs’ 2014 NBA Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard.
