Good News: Just In Another Talented 5-Star Decline Alabama, LSU And FSU Officially Commits To Auburn Tigers

**Michigan Football Loses a Top Recruit to Auburn**

The Michigan Wolverines received some disappointing recruiting news this Friday. Despite a generally positive summer in terms of recruiting, Michigan lost a key commitment from four-star defensive lineman Nate Marshall, who switched his commitment to Auburn. Marshall, who initially committed to Michigan in April, decided to flip to Auburn after taking an official visit there in June. He will now play his college football with the Tigers.

Hayes Fawcett broke the news on social media: “BREAKING: Four-Star DL Nate Marshall has Flipped his Commitment from Michigan to Auburn, he tells me for @on3recruits,” Fawcett wrote. “The 6’4 250 DL from Oak Park, IL had been Committed to the Wolverines since April.”

Marshall is highly regarded in the 2025 recruiting class, ranked as the 46th overall player by 247 Sports. His decision is a significant loss for Michigan, as he is also ranked as the 6th best defensive lineman and the 2nd best player in Illinois. He currently attends Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois.

Allen Trieu of 247 Sports provided a detailed scouting report on Marshall, highlighting his background in basketball and experience playing on offense, where he has demonstrated his versatility and athleticism. Trieu notes that Marshall’s athleticism translates well to the defensive side, allowing him to cover space effectively and pursue plays. Marshall has played across the defensive line, showcasing his ability to adapt to different positions. Trieu also mentions that while Marshall currently has no issues with his weight, his ability to add muscle could allow him to play as a versatile “five-tech” lineman in college, depending on his physical development. Though there are areas for improvement, particularly in technical skills with his hands and overall strength, Trieu believes Marshall has the potential to start for a major college program and possibly play beyond the college level.
