The Philadelphia Eagles have started trimming their roster to meet the NFL’s 53-player limit by releasing four veteran players:
– QB Will Grier
– DB Parry Nickerson
– OLB Julian Okwara
– OL Max Scharping
All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 4 PM on Tuesday.
Will Grier, who served as the Eagles’ fourth quarterback during Training Camp and the preseason, is a former third-round pick who previously played under Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore in Dallas and Los Angeles.
Parry Nickerson, a veteran defensive back, has experience playing in the slot and was with Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio in Miami last season.
Julian Okwara, another former third-round pick, played as an edge rusher in Fangio’s defense during Training Camp and the preseason. He appeared in 38 games, including four starts, over four seasons with the Detroit Lions.
Max Scharping, a former second-round pick by the Texans, joined the Eagles in June. He started 33 games for Houston before spending the last two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. Scharping started at left tackle in the Eagles’ preseason finale against the Vikings.
