Breaking: Green Bay Packers Officially Announced The Signing Of Another Top Experienced Star

The Green Bay Packers have signed defensive lineman Keonte Schad, formerly of the UFL, ahead of their joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

Schad, a 25-year-old native of Madison, Wisconsin, went undrafted out of Oregon State in 2022. He is listed at 6-foot-2 and 284 pounds. In 2023, while playing for the New Orleans Breakers, Schad recorded 7.5 sacks, the second-highest total in the USFL. In 2024, he made 10 starts for the Houston Roughnecks in the UFL.

According to Pro Football Focus, Schad played 380 snaps this past season, registering 15 pressures, six stops, and one forced fumble. In 2023, he recorded 30 pressures and 16 defensive stops.

The Packers were in need of defensive line depth after Spencer Waege suffered a concussion and was sidelined from practice. Schad, who graduated from Madison East High School, began his college career at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa before transferring to Minnesota for two seasons and finishing at Oregon State in 2021.

The Packers held a workout for Schad on Tuesday and created a roster spot for him by releasing Kenneth Odumegwu and designating kicker Alex Hale as their new International Player Pathway player. Schad had recently signed with the Michigan Panthers, but his contract was terminated to allow him to join the Packers. He will wear jersey No. 98.
