Official Niners News: San Francisco 49ers Officially Cut Another Top Experienced Top Star After Reuesting Max Extension

The San Francisco 49ers have officially signed wide receiver Robbie Chosen, leading to a corresponding roster adjustment. To make room for Chosen, the 49ers waived wide receiver Frank Darby with an injury designation.

Darby, who is 26 years old, was a relatively recent addition to the 49ers, having joined the team in late July. He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Over the past three seasons, Darby has played in 16 games, primarily contributing on special teams.

In his limited time on offense, he has recorded just two catches for 29 yards in regular-season play.

The decision to bring in Chosen, whose signing was initially reported on August 8, reflects the 49ers’ ongoing efforts to strengthen their roster. The move also illustrates the fluid nature of NFL rosters, where teams frequently adjust to maintain a competitive edge. As the 49ers continue to prepare for the upcoming season, Chosen’s addition and Darby’s departure are part of their strategy to enhance their lineup.
