Official Rangers News: More Bad News For Texas Rangers As Another Top Star Faced Major Injury And Will Miss The Rest Of The Season

Texas Rangers reliever Josh Sborz, who secured the final out of the 2023 World Series, is set to begin a rehabilitation assignment with the Frisco RoughRiders. Sborz will join the RoughRiders on Saturday, August 24th, as they face off against the San Antonio Missions, a San Diego Padres affiliate, at Riders Field.

Sborz was placed on the 15-day injured list on April 7th due to a rotator cuff strain and initially rehabbed with the RoughRiders before rejoining the Rangers. However, he was sidelined again on August 11th because of right shoulder fatigue. Over his four-season tenure with the Rangers, Sborz has made 16 appearances this year, achieving a 2-1 record with a 3.38 ERA.

During the 2023 season, Sborz ranked 11th among American League relievers with an impressive 11.35 strikeouts per nine innings (minimum 50 innings pitched in relief), the best mark for a Rangers pitcher since 2019. In the decisive game five of the 2023 World Series, Sborz was instrumental, securing the final seven outs without allowing a run and striking out four batters.

The RoughRiders’ game on August 24th also features promotions like Baseball in Paradise Night and Princess and Pirates Night, with a sword and wand giveaway for kids and the opportunity for them to run the bases after the game.
