Breaking: San francisco 49er Officially Cut Brock Purdy best friend following contract dispute

The San Francisco 49ers are making adjustments to their wide receiver group ahead of the NFL’s roster cutdown deadline. On Tuesday, they reportedly waived another speedy receiver, following the release of Robbie Chosen Anderson and Jontre Kirklin on Monday.

Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that the 49ers have released Danny Gray, a former third-round pick, after two seasons with the team. Gray made an early impact after being drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of SMU, catching a 76-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Trey Lance in the preseason. However, he struggled to find playing time during the regular season.

Over two years, Gray appeared in 13 games for the 49ers, recording just one catch for 10 yards and adding a single rush for nine yards.

With the departure of Gray, Chosen, and Kirklin, the 49ers’ wide receiver depth chart now includes Deebo Samuel and Jauan Jennings, along with rookies Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing, as well as Ronnie Bell, Tay Martin, Trent Taylor, and Chris Conley.

The 49ers have until 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday to finalize their roster to the required 53 players.
