This season, the Ole Miss Rebels may play for a college football national championship. They have defensive tackle Walter Nolen leading a strong transfer portal class, quarterback prospect Jaxson Dart, and one of the nation’s best tight ends, Caden Prieskorn. The fact that they had head coach Lane Kiffin, who was almost not there, is maybe most significant.
Kiffin, one of the greatest personalities and best head coaches in the sport, was linked to the Auburn Tigers position in 2022 and 2023. Landry, Lane Kiffin’s daughter, convinced her father to stay at Ole Miss. He actually came close to accepting the position. However, his daughter Landry, who attends Ole Miss now, prevented him from going.
Kiffin’s oldest daughter, Landry, is a sophomore at Ole Miss. She moved to Oxford from Los Angeles prior to her senior year of high school to be with her father. In fact, had it not been for Landry, her dad might be coaching at Auburn right now,”Chris Low of ESPN reports. “Kiffin was leaning toward taking the Auburn job toward the end of the 2022 season when Landry came to him with a heartfelt message.

In the end, Kiffin remained at Ole Miss in order to be near his daughter. Less than a year after Bryan Harsin was hired, Auburn fired him as head coach. Hugh Freeze, another struggling former Ole Miss coach, was later chosen by the Tigers to head their program. The Rebels now boast one of the best squads and coaches in the country. And for that, they may thank Landry Kiffin.
