Done Deal: Just In LSU Tigers Announced Another Commitment Of Five-Star Receiver And A Defensive Tackle Today

**LSU Football Aiming for Commitments from Five-Star Receiver and Defensive Tackle Today**

LSU Football is looking to extend its impressive run on the recruiting trail as two of their top uncommitted targets are expected to announce their decisions today. With the recent commitment of Aidan Anding, LSU has climbed to the second spot in On3’s rankings, just behind Alabama. In the On3 recruiting industry rankings, LSU holds the third position but is within reach of the top spot.

If LSU secures a commitment from five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench, the Tigers could move within decimal points of having the nation’s top recruiting class. Ffrench, ranked as the 18th best player and third best wide receiver in On3’s Industry rankings, is considering LSU, Texas, Miami, and Tennessee.

As Ffrench’s decision nears, the Texas Longhorns are seen as the frontrunner. However, LSU remains a strong contender due to their longstanding recruitment efforts and Ffrench’s family ties in Louisiana. Alongside Miami, LSU is considered to have a solid chance of swaying Ffrench’s decision.

A positive indicator for LSU is that Ffrench recently visited Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash recruiting weekend, where the coaching staff put significant effort into their pitch. If Ffrench commits to Texas, LSU could still benefit by focusing on other top prospects like Jonah Williams and Kaliq Lockett, potentially adding another five-star receiver to their class.

Meanwhile, LSU is expected to land a commitment tomorrow from Walter “Buddy” Mathis, a defensive tackle from Georgia. Although Mathis is rated as a three-star recruit, he has received offers from several major programs, including LSU, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. On3’s industry rankings place Mathis as the 456th-best player and the 42nd-ranked defensive tackle in the class.

**Building a Strong Defensive Tackle Class**

Securing a commitment from Mathis would mark LSU’s fourth addition to their defensive line in this recruiting cycle, underscoring a strong push by Bo Davis to strengthen this position group. It’s evident that upgrading the defensive tackle unit was a top priority for LSU this cycle, as they also brought in a strong class the previous year with players like Dominick McKinley, Gabe Reliford, Ahmad Breaux, and Shone Washington. Adding another talented group of defensive tackles will be crucial for the team’s future success.
